IIT JEE Main Counselling Process

The JEE Main Counselling 2024 is the final step to securing admission into NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The counselling process is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and is expected to be held in 6 rounds. The key steps involved in the JEE Main counselling process include:

IIT JEE Advanced Counselling Process

The JEE Advanced Counselling 2024 is expected to begin in June 2024. The counselling and seat allotment process for JEE Advanced is also conducted by JoSAA. The key steps involved in the JEE Advanced counselling process are as follows:

1. Registration: Eligible candidates need to register for JEE Advanced counselling and seat allotment on the official JoSAA website using their JEE Advanced roll number and password.
2. Choice Filling and Locking: After registration, candidates are required to fill their choices of courses and institutes in the order of their preference and lock them before the deadline.
3. Seat Allotment and Reporting to Allotted Institute: The seat allotment is done based on the candidate's choices, category, and merit. Candidates who are allotted seats need to download the provisional seat allotment letter and report to the respective institute for further admission formalities.

JoSAA and CSAB

To clarify these doubts, it is essential to understand the differences between JoSAA and CSAB counselling. JoSAA stands for Joint Seat Allocation Authority, while CSAB stands for Central Seat Allocation Board. Both of these bodies are responsible for the selection process in colleges. Based on your rank, you will be allotted seats in various colleges through JoSAA counselling. The colleges that you can get through JoSAA counselling include 23 IITs, 32 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 33 GFTIs. The number of colleges under JoSAA counselling has been increasing every year. Previously, there were 28 colleges, then it increased to 29, then to 31, and this year it has been increased to 33. Every year, colleges with good performance, both state government colleges and private colleges, are added to the list of JoSAA counselling. For example, this year, VNIT Nagpur and NIFT campus have been added to the list.

State-wise Counselling

Apart from JoSAA counselling, there are many other colleges in each state that participate in separate counselling sessions. For example, in Uttar Pradesh, there are HBTI Kanpur, IIIT Allahabad, MNNIT Allahabad, and many more colleges. Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh, there are MANIT Bhopal, IIIT Jabalpur, and other colleges. These colleges can be obtained through state-wise counselling. The colleges and the counselling process may vary in each state.
